Albemarle firefighters respond to Wednesday morning house fire

Firefighters were called to a fire at a home in the 600 block of South Second Street at approximately 10:21 a.m. Wednesday, according to a statement from the City of Albemarle.

The occupant of the home reported the fire started as the occupant was cooking food on the stove. No injuries were reported.

The house sustained heavy structural damage, a city official said.
