Volunteers, athletes raise $21K for Special Olympics with Polar Plunge

Nearly 70 people tackled the cold water of Badin Lake in the Polar Plunge earlier this month to show their support for Special Olympics Stanly County.
Also at the event, Special Olympics athlete Jamie Haithcock was honored for individually raising more than $2,500 by contacting all his friends and businesses in the county.
The Polar Plunge campaign, coordinated by Kendra Furlow, raised $21,353.
