Registration underway for Uwharrie Senior Games and Silver Arts

Registration for participants in Uwharrie Senior Games and Silver Arts will continue through April 6 at the Stanly County Senior Center, Jesse F. Niven Community Center, E.E. Waddell Community Center and at the Troy-Montgomery Senior Center.
Registration fee is $19 per person, with first time participants taking part at no charge.
Adults ages 50 and better are eligible to participate in a variety of sports and games, as well as four categories of artistic skills. Participants may choose as many or as few events as they wish to enter, and competition is divided into five-year age groups.
Events include walking, basketball shooting, table tennis, pickleball, croquet, shuffleboard, horseshoes, softball throw and a softball team.
Silver Arts include visual arts (painting, drawing); heritage arts (knitting, woodworking); literary arts (poetry, fiction); and performing arts (vocal, instrumental).

Events are conducted at various sites in Stanly and Montgomery counties. Events will begin April 17.

North Carolina Senior Games and Silver Arts began in 1984 to enable adults 50 and up to achieve physical and mental wellness.
Uwharrie Senior Games is a sanctioned local event of the NC Senior Games and Silver Arts specifically for residents of Stanly and Montgomery counties.
