Two young girls involved with the Albemarle Academy of Dance were injured in a car accident Friday evening, according to a post on AAD’s Facebook page.

AAD wrote that both girls — identified as 13-year-old Kaidyn and 7-year-old Elise — “sustained extremely serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.”

“We know that our dance community is incredibly supportive and caring, and we are hopeful that we can come together to support these two dancers, and their families during this difficult time,” AAD posted on Facebook over the weekend.

Two separate GoFundMe pages have been set up for the girls. As of Monday morning, $3,385 has been raised for Kaidyn and $2,085 has been raised for Elise.

The Stanly News & Press has reached out to the North Carolina Highway Patrol and is awaiting information into the specifics of the accident. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
