Anna Lynn Carter, a junior at Gray Stone Day School, has been selected to attend the 2023 session of the North Carolina Governor’s School, a four-week summer program offered by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

The Governor’s School is the oldest statewide, summer enrichment program for academically and/or intellectually gifted high school students in the nation. Nominations are made by each local high school, reviewed by a local committee and then submitted to a state committee for final selection. The selection process is based off the student’s academic standing or ability to perform in an area of concentration such as dance, art, music and drama.

Carter will study English.

“I am so proud of Anna Lynn for being selected for this honor. She is an outstanding student and her hard work is providing her with great opportunities,” said Helen Nance, chief administrative officer for Gray Stone.

She is the daughter of Rebecca and Shane Carter and resides in Albemarle.
