A sheriff’s deputy made contact with Armstrong after seeing her car parked behind Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Oakboro with no lights on around midnight, Crisco said.

“Due to the time of the night, nobody should be around behind the church,” Crisco said.

After smelling alcohol and marijuana, the deputy searched the car and discovered marijuana, LSD and cocaine.

The passenger, 43-year-old Larry Gulledge, was also arrested on similar charges including trafficking in cocaine and LSD and carrying a concealed weapon.

Both are in Stanly County jail on $2 million bonds.
