Friends of the Stanly County Library announce book sale

The Friends of the Stanly County Library is will have its annual spring book sale April 19-22 in the lower level of the Albemarle library.

From 4-7 p.m. April 19, Friends members with active paid memberships have a special opportunity to shop for books at half price. Memberships can be renewed or purchased at the door.

The sale continues for the public 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 20-21.

April 22 is bargain bag day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Books can be purchased for $1 a bag.

Proceeds help the Friends of the Stanly County Library support public library services in all branches.

The sale includes hardbacks and paperbacks in children’s, young adult, and adult books. Also available are CDs, audiobooks, DVDs and more.

Prices range from $.25 to $1.

This sale includes some special collections that will be offered with special pricing. There are more than 100 volumes of the hardbound set of the War of Rebellion Official Records of the Union and Confederate armies and a set of official records of the Union and Confederate navies.

There are many other Civil War books including a 29 volume set of Time-Life history of the Civil War.

Also in the sale is a nine-volume set of L. Ron Hubbard’s Mission Earth series — all hardback with dust jackets and other vintage science fiction titles.

There will be many Easton Press leather bound books — classics and poetry and comic books.

Friends of the Stanly County Library, formed as a nonprofit in 1992, supports the Stanly County Library and its services, informs others of issues affecting the Library and assists in promoting literacy in Stanly County.

Each year the Friends sponsor special events such as author presentations, workshops, fall and spring book sales and the Children’s Summer Reading Program.
