Several fire crews responded to a house fire Monday night at 806 N. Central Ave. in Locust.

The fire started inside a Honda vehicle in the garage before expanding into portions of the home, according to Stanly County Assistant Fire Marshal Evan Faulkner.

West Stanly Fire Department, Ridgecrest Volunteer Fire Department and Georgeville Volunteer Fire Department were initially dispatched at around 8:48 p.m. to the home, Faulkner said. The first truck arrived on scene four minutes later and the fire was under control by around 9:05 p.m.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured, Faulkner said.

Most of the damage was confined to the garage and the attic, Faulkner said, noting the vehicle was beyond repair.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
