Albemarle Police is investigating a shooting that happened around 1 a.m. Sunday.

Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 600 block of Coble Avenue. APD received a report that a female juvenile had been taken to the hospital by private vehicle for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury related to a gunshot.

Preliminary investigation indicates this was not a random incident and there is no threat to the public, according to a press release.

The Albemarle Police Department is pursuing leads in its investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
