The football conferences for the fall 2023 season will look slightly different for the four teams in Stanly County.

In the 1A/2A Yadkin Valley Conference, Jay M. Robinson has moved back up to the 3A classification and into the school’s previous conference, the South Piedmont. The Bulldogs were 20-4 the past two seasons in football and did not lose a conference game either year posting a 10-0 mark.

For the fall of 2024, the YVC will have five football playing teams: three 1A schools (Albemarle, South Stanly, Union Academy) and two 2A programs (North Stanly and Mount Pleasant).

West Stanly will also renew a conference rivalry with a previous Rocky River Conference opponent in the Piedmont Panthers.

The RRC will have three 3A teams (Central Academy, Monroe and Parkwood) and four 2A squads (West Stanly, Anson, Forest Hills and Monroe).

Football’s regular season will kick off the week of Aug. 18.
