Albemarle men’s track takes third at conference meet

The Albemarle men’s track team finished third May 1 at the Yadkin Valley Conference hosted by Mount Pleasant.

On the men’s side, Albemarle’s team finished in third with 102 points behind Robinson (141) and Union Academy (130). North Stanly finished fourth with 77, followed by South Stanly (76), Gray Stone (54) and Mount Pleasant (51).

Dre Davis finished first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.79 seconds for Albemarle. Davis also won the 200-meter run.

C.J. Ellis gave Albemarle a first-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles.

In the relay events, Albemarle took first in the 4×100-meter relay.

Albemarle also got first finishes in field events. Miles Gregory won the shot put and A.J. Davis won the discus.

Joshawa Huneycutt gave South Stanly three first-place finishes in the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs.

South also got first place in the 4×800-meter relay.
