Stanly County drivers will soon have a smoother ride on a handful of secondary roads in Oakboro thanks to a $2.2 million resurfacing contract the N.C. Department of Transportation recently awarded.

The contract includes improvements to segments of Lighthouse, Silver and Swift roads just outside downtown Oakboro, approximately 3.65 miles.

The contractor, J.T. Russell & Sons Inc. of Albemarle, anticipates completing the project this fall.
