The Oakboro police, including the K-9 unit, arrested a man Sunday morning for speeding and possession of marijuana.

After traveling 52 mph in a 35 mph zone, 24-year-old Blanquinton Terry of Rockingham was pulled over around 11:32 a.m. Officers discovered 16.5 grams of marijuana and two concealed weapons. It was later determined Terry had a concealed carry permit but failed to notify he was a carrier and had the weapons.

Terry was also facing federal charges by the U.S. Army for military desertion after he left his post at Fort Stewart in Georgia.

Terry was placed under a $1,000 unsecured bond for the local charges and a no bond hold while awaiting the military police to take him into custody.
