The 2023-24 proposed fiscal budget for the town of Badin will not have a change in its tax rate.

According to information obtained by The Stanly News & Press, the Badin town budget, at $2.88 million, will not have a change in its tax rate. Last year, the rate went up from 43 cents to .4475 cents, but will not change in the proposed budget submitted by Town Manager Jay Almond for next fiscal year.

Badin will receive $1.68 million in state and federal grants next year, including $1 million for the Badin Waterfront Park and $250,000 for improvements to the Badin Conference Center.

One-time expenses for the town will total $160,842 for a new public safety vehicle, a dump truck, a new scanner/copier for town hall and repairs to the Badin museum. Of that total, $30,000 comes from private grants and $7,171 from a parks and recreation grant from Stanly County.

Town staff will also receive a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) raise next year.
