Stanly Community College has announced that Dr. Liane She is the latest employee to earn a doctoral degree. She received her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership, with a concentration in Learning, Design and Technology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

She joined SCC in 2017 and is currently the Spanish and French instructor, as well as the college’s global education coordinator.

Prior to her current position, She began her career in higher education at Gardner-Webb University located in Boiling Springs as a Fulbright French teaching assistant. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Hispanic and Latin American Studies from the University of Sorbonne-Nouvelle in Paris, France, and earned her first master’s degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies in Salamanca, Spain.

Later, She earned her second master’s degree in Spanish Translating and Translation Studies, along with a Certificate in Translating French at UNCC, while working as a Spanish instructor and a graduate research and teaching assistant.

“I am beyond grateful for my time at SCC, as my current position constantly inspires me to grow and learn more while bridging different cultures and hopefully raising global awareness in Stanly County. It is fulfilling to work in a place that allows me to collaborate with my colleagues and join our forces to achieve this goal for all our students, as well as having the opportunity to meet other passionate educators through presenting at and attending conferences around the world,” She said.

Additionally, She always knew she needed to challenge herself further by completing her doctorate in education and considers herself a lifelong learner.

She added, “Without the support of my superiors at SCC, I would not have been able to complete this doctoral degree. Thanks to all the knowledge I’ve acquired, I aspire to be a better leader and educator in my field to make a difference in students’ journeys.”

So far, She has personally traveled to more than 30 countries and taken students, faculty and community members on four international trips throughout her time at SCC.
