Summer officially begins next week, but for our children it is already in full swing.

Please be mindful that children will be playing outside a lot more and they may not be as careful as they should be. Drive a little slower and be vigilant.

It’s also the time where we may see some slithering creatures in yards, fields or hiking trails. Be careful while walking, gardening or cleaning the yard.

Be very watchful of children near water. Swimming lessons are a great investment in assuring the safety of our little swimmers.

Join us June 19-24 for vacation Bible school at Shiloh Baptist Church. The program will be 6-8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. If you would like to participate, visit badincommunityvbs.mycokesburyvbs.com to complete online registration.

The 4th Annual West Badin Celebration of Juneteenth will be June 17 and 18 at the West Badin Community Park on Lincoln Street.

This event will be from 3-8 p.m. and will feature live music, speakers, entertainment, food, and various vendors.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Albemarle, will host Men’s Day beginning June 24 with Men of Valor and Prayer (MVP) prayer breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The guest speaker will be Minister Marvin McCauley.

At 11 a.m. June 25, Men’s Day ends with Men’s Day Sunday Celebration. The guest speaker will be Dr. Henry Cobb.

Sanctuary Christian Outreach Ministry welcomes all to Bishop Gwendolyn E. Holland’s Pastor Appreciation celebration. They will be celebrating her 15 years of service on June 24-25.

Pastor Jeffrey Gambrell, Sr. of God’s Deliverance for All People and Word of Truth Ministry will be the speaker at 3 p.m. June 24 at 201 Bell Ave., Albemarle.

At 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Pastor Donnie Bennett of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church will be the speaker at Resurrection Community Church, Albemarle.

Dinner will be served after Sunday service.
