Andrew Pfeifer began as the new horticulture agent June 1 at the Stanly County Center of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension.
He will work with the Extension Master Gardener volunteers and the consumer and commercial horticulture program.
His focus is on sustainable best management practices and creating diverse habitats for pollinators and wildlife. He will expand the demonstration garden and assist homeowners and other local entities.
He graduated from NC State University with a degree in horticultural science with minors in entomology and biological sciences.
Pfeifer has already met with Extension Master Gardeners to assess needs and develop plans for upcoming programs and projects. He also presented a pollinator workshop at the Albemarle library.
