Did I see the posts on Facebook correctly? I saw announcements about Open House for students beginning next week. Wow! Summer vacation has really slipped away.

Enjoy these next couple of weeks with your families. Enjoy the parks, lakes, pools and indoor activities. Hopefully the storms will not hinder activities.

Be on the lookout for Back to School giveaways to help your child be prepared for school.

Community News

Parks and Rec will sponsor a Back to School Bash on Aug. 2, at the E.E. Waddell. This is always a great event with activities and food for the children. Don’t miss out. Children do have to be present to receive supplies.

Michella’s Hair Salon presents “Shop Talk” on July 31 at 6 p.m. The guest host will be Minister Sharean Williams at 1949 E. Main St., Albemarle.

Church News

Fifth Sunday Fellowship, sponsored by Saints Delight Church and New Direction Life Ministries, will take place July 30 at New Direction Life Ministries, Norwood, at 10:30. Pastor Charles Barrino and Pastors Michael and Anita Scott extend an invitation to join in this fellowship.

Saints Delight Church will celebrate its pastor, Pastor Charles Barrino, for his Pastoral Anniversary, on Aug. 6 at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be Pastor J. Strange, Olive Branch MBC, Marshville. All are invited to attend.

First Baptist Missionary Church, Norwood, invites you to The Light of Revival Aug. 7-8 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Pastor Deon Anderson Sr., of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Oakboro. The host pastor is Rev. Dr. Cecil Raysor. All are invited.

Mt. Zion, Albemarle Youth Ministries present DRIP (Divine, Righteousness, Ignites, Purpose). The conference will be Aug. 12 at 10 a.m. There will be unity prayer, workshops and a bagged breakfast. The conference ends Aug. 13 with two events. Morning worship will be at 11 a.m. The speaker will be Minister Elijah Medlock. A pool party will be held at Chuck Morehead Park at 2 p.m. Registration is free. Host pastor is Minister Arnette Wall.
