Oakboro Police arrests suspect on 2 counts attempted murder

Oakboro Police has arrested a man for attempted murder following a shooting Monday night.
Shortly before 8 p.m., Oakboro Police was dispatched to a domestic disturbance at 532 Claymon Road.
Upon arrival, the responding officer heard gunfire and observed a male running towards him with a gunshot wound. He also observed a female lying face down in the front yard, suffering from a gunshot wound.
While the officer was attempting to get to the female victim, a male came from the back of the residence, armed with a rifle. At that time, the officer challenged Conrado Arroyo Zarate by giving verbal commands to drop the weapon.
Zarate complied by placing the weapon down and was taken into custody without further incident.
Aid was then rendered to the two gunshot victims.
All three individuals reside at 532 Claymon Road.
Amelia Diaz, 48, was transported to Atrium Health-CMC, where she is in stable condition.
David Diaz, 29, was transported to Atrium Health- Northeast, where he was treated and released.
Zarate, 52, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.
He is being held under a $2 million secured bond at the Stanly County Jail. Detention Center.
