West Badin Festival and Veterans Parade

Everyone is invited to the Veterans Parade on Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. preceding the noon opening of the West Badin Festival and Homecoming celebration.

All veterans are encouraged to take part and may walk or ride in personal vehicles.

Please assemble on Stuart Street prior to the start of the parade and contact Deloris Chambers, 704-438-6948, or Valerie Tyson, 704-422-3559, about participating.

Badin4Life wants to build on last year’s successful festival and invites the entire community to gather on Roosevelt Street for this free event.

Bring lawn chairs and tents and anticipate enjoying good food, music fun and games.

Bread Giveaway

Better Badin and South Albemarle Ministerial Alliance are offering bread products free on Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. in the Badin VFD parking lot. Anyone may pick up a loaf as long as supplies last.

Lupus Support Group

S’era McCall, founder of the Lupus Support Group of Stanly County, will host a gathering on Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. at Badin Coffee.

Anyone who struggles with lupus — a disease with many forms — is encouraged to come join the conversation.
Friends, family and caregivers are also invited to attend.

Badin Library

Storytime and Crafts for children is scheduled for Sept. 26 at 10:30 a.m. Please call the library ahead of time for confirmation, 704-422-3218. And remember, September is Library Card Sign-up Month.

The Badin community extends heartfelt condolences to Branch Manager Treva Allmon and her family on the recent loss of her husband, Timothy Allmon.

Sunshine Club

This month’s meeting and covered dish lunch on Sept. 26 begins with an informative program at 10:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall of Badin Baptist Church. All adults are welcome and asked to bring a dish to share.

Palestine UMC

The delivery of backpacks to Badin Elementary will be Sept. 29. Expect more information soon.

Better Badin

Better Badin, Inc. declared Aug. 31 to be Badin Volunteer Fire Department Appreciation Day and invited VFD members to an Italian feast at the firehouse as a way of saying thank you.

Volunteers from both organizations continue to serve this community with excellence.
