In September and October the Stanly County Board of Elections will visit high schools during lunches to promote the 2024 Student Assistant and Student Ambassador programs.

The Student Assistant program allows students who meet the guidelines to serve at the precinct on Election Day. They will have the opportunity to see democracy in action and be entrusted with the same obligations and responsibilities as precinct officials.

Student assistants will receive training and compensation for their time. Students are required to be a U.S. citizen, resident of Stanly, age 17 or older and in good academic standing where they are enrolled.

Student Ambassadors assist in recruiting Student Assistants, conduct voter registration drives and maintain a voting information display at their high school. Ambassadors must be recommended by a teacher or school staff.
