Albemarle Police identify suspect, vehicle in homicide

- Byron Anthony Beckford Jr. has been labeled a suspect following a homicide Thursday morning.

The Albemarle Police Department has identified Byron Anthony Beckford Jr., 20, as a suspect in a domestic related homicide investigation.
Albemarle Police are searching for Beckford who was last seen driving a dark in color sedan with damage to the passenger side. The vehicle has North Carolina tag – KAF-9988.
Albemarle Police provided this image of a sedan similar to the one Beckford is believed to be traveling in.
At approximately 11:58 a.m. Thursday, Albemarle Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Carpenter Avenue for a report of gunshots fired. Upon arrival, officers found a
deceased female, later identified as McKayla Davis, 20.
Preliminary investigation revealed the deceased had been involved in a domestic incident shortly before a witness reported hearing gunshots.
