As I sit on my porch, putting this article together, there is a definite nip in the air. This let’s me know Fall is soon to come, but recognize that we live in N.C. and our weather is very unpredictable. Enjoy the cooler weather, but don’t put away those summer clothes just yet.

Community News

Roosevelt Street was the place to be on Sept. 10. The whole community was treated to a block party by former resident Donald Simms. It was a time of fellowship, food, laughter, music, dancing and fun. There were people from several states, cities and towns.

Mr. Simms recently celebrated his 70th birthday, and wanted to show love and appreciation to the community he grew up in. The community thanks him for the love shown.

Church News

During the Holy Convocation of the Sanctuary Deliverance churches, Elder Michael McKinnis was elevated to assistant pastor of St. Luke, Badin. He had previously served as minister in training, but is now working in his new role. He is looking forward to working in the community.

Bishop Chenner Smith, and the members of St. Luke welcome Elder McKinnis in his new role.

It’s revival and homecoming time at New Hope Missionary Baptist.

Homecoming will be Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. The speaker will be Pastor Michael Scott, of New Direction, Norwood.
Scott will also be the speaker on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.

The speaker for the 26th and 27th at 7 p.m. will be Bishop Fisher. Thursday and Friday’s speaker will be Apostle Joceilyn Hastie.

All are invited to attend. The host pastor is Bishop Ronald Carpenter.

Saints Delight Church will host its Annual Fall Festival on Sept. 23 beginning at noon.

There will be family friendly activities for all featuring live music, food, dance, kids zone and much more.
