Stanly County has announced that Steve Dutton of Locust has accepted the county’s offer to become the new SCUSA transportation director.

Dutton works for Cabarrus County Schools as a career and technical education teacher, but will transition to his new role as SCUSA director on Monday.

Prior to working in education, he had multiple management level roles in the poultry industry, including those in the area of transportation and logistics.

“The County interviewed several candidates, but Steve emerged from the field due to his passion for the community, demonstrated management ability and interpersonal skill set,” County Manager Andy Lucas said.
