Farmers Market

The farmers market will be open on Tuesday 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and on Thursday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The market sells local fruits and vegetables and crafts. Some vendors also have jewelry, flowers, plants, honey, meat and eggs.

Concert

The Promise Trio will be in concert at Freedom Baptist Church on Oct. 8 beginning at 6 p.m.

The church is at 20015 Coley Store Road.

Bulk Waste

There will be a bulk waste pick up Oct. 14 for Locust residents. Acceptable items will be household furniture, bed frames, mattress and box springs (must be wrapped in plastic), large toys as playhouses and disassembled swing sets.

Residents must contact Waste Pro directly (704-821-7578) to schedule your pick up.

Deadline to sign up in Oct. 9 at 3 p.m.

Homecoming

Rev. Ardy Skidmore and the congregation of Locust Presbyterian Church, 607 Main St. W., invite you to celebrate homecoming on Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. Dr. Mack Sigmon will bring the message that day. Drs. Mack and Amy Sigmon previously served at LPC and we look forward to having Rev. Mack back with us. We will have a covered dish lunch following worship and invite everyone to join in celebrating the 141 years of our church.

Locust Presbyterian serves lunch every third Wednesday.

This is for fellowship with the community. This month date is Oct. 18 with the theme being Oktoberfest. Severing begins at 11:30 a.m.

So come on out and enjoy the food, fun activities and fellowship. The church is at 607 Main St. W.

Sock It To Cancer 5K Walk/Fun Run

City of Locust will host the 2nd Annual Sock It To Cancer 5K Walk/Fun Run, benefitting Cindy’s Hope Chest, on Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. in Locust Town Center, starting at Locust City Hall.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. Registration can be done online prior to the event at City Hall or the morning of the event in person.

There is no registration fee, but donations are accepted; the suggested donation amount is $5-$30 per participant.

Donations can be brought to the event, with checks made out to Cindy’s Hope Chest. If you prefer to use Venmo, a QR code will be available at the event.

Registration is now open for Locust Parks and Recreation basketball.

Last day of registration is Oct. 31.
