The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program helps provide Christmas gifts for thousands of children and seniors in the Cabarrus/Stanly area each year.

Community members “adopt” many of the children in need by selecting names from the Christmas trees in area malls, but not every child is selected or some supplemental items are needed to ensure that every child has at least one complete outfit and a warm outer garment.

For the past few years, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary (SAWA) has held a new clothes drive to ensure there are enough clothes for the children and seniors in the Angel Tree program.

This year, SAWA will have boxes out in area businesses the last two weeks of October to collect new clothing.

The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of Cabarrus & Stanly Counties will accept items for its Angel Tree program at Shoe Dept. in the Leonard Avenue Shopping Center in Albemarle and Los Jacubes Family Mexican Restaurant, 213 N. Main St., Oakboro, Oct. 16 to Oct. 29.
