Farmers Market

The last day for the Farmers market will be Oct. 26. The hours have to 3:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday and on 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.

The market sells local fruits and vegetables and crafts. Some vendors also have jewelry, flowers, plants, honey, meat and eggs.

Come Have Lunch

Locust Presbyterian serves lunch every third Wednesday. This is for fellowship with the community. This month the date is Oct. 18 with the theme being Oktoberfest. Severing begins at 11:30 a.m.

So come on out and enjoy the food, fun activities and fellowship. The church is at 607 Main St. W.

Yard Sale

Locust Town Center Community behind Locust City Hall, 186 Ray Kennedy Dr., Locust, will have a multi-family yard sale Oct. 21 from 7 a.m. to noon, There will be furniture, adult and kids clothes, toys and much more.

Family Movie

Family Movie Night will be at 6 p.m. Saturday in the backyard of Locust City Hall. The featured movie will be “Frankenweenie.” There will be food vendors at this event. Bring the family and chairs or a blanket to enjoy this free movie.

Sock It To Cancer 5K Walk/Fun Run

City of Locust will host the 2nd Annual Sock It To Cancer 5K Walk/Fun Run, benefiting Cindy’s Hope Chest, on Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. in Locust Town Center, starting at Locust City Hall.

Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. Registration can be done online prior to the event at City Hall or the morning of the event in person.

There is no registration fee, but donations are accepted; the suggested donation amount is $5-$30 per participant. Donations can be brought to the event, with checks made out to Cindy’s Hope Chest. If you prefer to use Venmo, a QR code will be available at the event.

Kids Night Out

The next Kids Night Out will be 6-10 p.m. Oct. 27. City of Locust Parks and Recreation will provide pizza and drinks, an activity and movie. Depending on the weather, attendees may also go to the playground at Jeff Shelton Memorial Park, located beside the Locust Community Building. Send your child with a water bottle, towel and shoes appropriate for outdoor play.

The cost is $15 for the first child and $10 for each additional child, with an additional $5 non-resident fee per child for those living outside of Locust city limits. Note that pickup is promptly at 10 p.m. There will be an additional fee of $5 for every five minutes after 10 p.m.

Trunk or Treat

Stanfield Baptist Church will have Trunk or Treat 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28. Bring the kids and enjoy this event at 200 N.C. Highway 200, Stanfield.

Locust Presbyterian Church, 607 West Main St., will host its annual Trunk or Treat 4-6 p.m. Oct. 29. They will have games, trunks and hot dogs.

Locust Fall Festival

This event will be 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

It is organized by a committee of representatives from local churches and works with Locust Parks and Recreation. Email Pastor Tommy Ross from First Baptist Church for vendor information at tommy.ross@firstbaptistlocust.com.

There will be lots of activities for the kids to enjoy.

Parking is limited. You must park only in designated parking areas.

Basketball

Registration is now open for Locust Parks and Recreation basketball.
Last day of registration is Oct. 31.
