BADIN NEWS: Museum’s holiday store nears opening

Better Badin

The nonprofit’s monthly meeting is Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Badin Baptist Church. All residents interested in ongoing community service are invited to attend.

Town Business

Limb and Brush Pickup is underway today. Also check out the street-by-street Leaf Collection Schedule on the town’s Facebook page.

Town Council will hold a public hearing at 6:45 p.m. on Nov. 14 in Town Hall to receive input about alley closures. The regular monthly meeting will follow at 7 p.m.

Badin Library

A storytime and crafts session for homeschool children and preschoolers is Nov. 14 at 10:30 a.m. Storytime will not be offered on Nov. 28 due to Voter ID Outreach in the library.

Museum Holiday Store

Badin Historic Museum, 62 Falls Road, will open its holiday pop-up shop Nov. 18 to Dec. 23 in the Firehouse Museum, including Moravian baked goods.

Treats like sugar cookies, sugar cakes and other sweets along with frozen chicken pot pies and seasonal offerings will add to the local shopping experience in Badin.

A portion of the proceeds will go toward the museum’s ongoing mission to record and display Badin’s history.

Museum Store hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Sunday hours are 2-5 p.m. The store will not open on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Volunteers Needed

Badin Christmas elves are invited to help Better Badin volunteers string garlands and hang bows and wreaths around town on Nov. 18 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Badin Gazebo on Falls Road.

Bread Giveaway

This month’s bread giveaway will be Nov. 24 at 1:30 p.m. in the Badin VFD parking lot. Please stop by for a free loaf or some rolls.

Sunshine Club

All adults are invited to enjoy an interesting program and fellowship around the lunch table on Nov. 28 beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall of Badin Baptist Church. Please bring a favorite dish to share.

Lupus Support Group

S’era McCall offers help and encouragement to others through the Lupus Support Group of Stanly County. She is exploring ways to connect with “Lupus Warriors” and their families.

Winterfest 2023

Time to mark December calendars for Badin’s 2nd Annual Winterfest.

Keep in mind family activities and games begin at noon, along with food and craft vendors.

Brent Bowers is performing from 2-4 p.m. and a handbell choir from 4-5 p.m. Badin Elementary kindergarten students will sing at 6 p.m. followed by the Badin Christmas tree lighting and Santa’s arrival.
