Stanly County Sheriff’s Office received further accusations against a man charged last month with altering a will.

Richard Huneycutt

On Oct. 20, multiple search warrants were conducted in connection with Richard Huneycutt of Albemarle.

Detectives received information that Huneycutt altered a will of Alan Jarvis Harwood. After Harwood’s death, the Sheriff’s Office said, it was found Huneycutt took possession of his home and multiple vehicles illegally.

Since news arose of those arrests, Huneycutt has been charged with 14 additional felonies including kidnapping, exploitation of a disabled adult and abuse/neglect of a disabled adult.

“Tips began to flood investigators which pointed to citizen concern about two disabled adults who were in the care of Richard Huneycutt,” Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Karcin Vick-Dunn said. “The charges stemmed from an incident which occurred earlier this year. The new charges are in part based on the disabled adult not having adequate access to basic utilities.”
