The Oakboro Christmas Parade will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 30.
Parade entries are requested to go to the Oakboro Fire and Rescue Building on College Street to be placed in line for the parade by 6 p.m.
A Christmas tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Oakboro Memorial Park.
Oakboro Regional Museum will be open 5-7 p.m. prior to the parade. Christmas trees will be on display and children will be able to create their own Christmas tree ornament. The “Mighty Models” exhibit is also available for viewing.
Trees decorated with ornaments made by the children in the 4-year-old classes at Quality Child Care and Oakboro Kids Club will be on display. They will be exhibited in the building at the corner of West Second and North Main streets (at the former Shell Service Station).
Luminaries, sponsored by Oakboro Lions Club, will be lit from 5-9 p.m. They will be placed on the grounds of the Coble Teeter House at 516 N. Main St.
This is a chance to light a luminary in honor or in memory of someone special. All money from the luminary fund drive will go directly to the North Carolina Lions Brighter Visions and Clinical Eye Research campaign.
Luminaries are $2 per bag. They may be purchased from a member of the Oakboro Lions Club or at Variety Pick-Up in Oakboro. Orders with payment may be mailed to Oakboro Lions Club, P. O. Box 486, Oakboro, NC 28129.
Information needed from the donor is the name of the person being honored and the name of the person who is making the donation.
