West Stanly Players opens production tonight

The West Stanly Players will present their annual fall production this weekend at West Stanly High School. This year the Players return to Christmas stories with two classic tales of redemption and the spirit of Christmas.

The opening story of the play features senior Elliot Ecenbarger in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. In this classic Charles Dickens’ story, Scrooge is visited by three spirits who try to show him the error of his ways and save his soul.

Then, journey to the Land of Oz as the Wicked Witch of the West, played by senior Macy Pressler,  is visited by her own three spirits and other familiar characters like the Tin Man, Scarecrow, Lion and a certain little girl from Kansas as they try to mend her wicked ways during “Christmas in Oz.”

The play runs at 7 p.m. Dec. 1-2 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at West Stanly High School.Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance by contacting April Tucker at 704-791-3200 or at the door before each performance.
