Albemarle honors retirees for 30 years of service

The City of Albemarle honored Joel R. Thompson Jr., Sammie D. Lilly and James D. Thomas on their retirements from the City of Albemarle at Monday’s City Council meeting.

Each of the men worked for 30 years in the Water and Sewer Division of Public Utilities.

After receiving his retirement certificate, Lilly said: “I want to thank the City for the opportunity to work for a good organization. What I’ll miss the most is my co-workers, but I’m still part of the family.”

Mayor Ronnie Michael presented Thompson, Lilly and Thomas a certificate of appreciation on behalf of City Council and the City thanking each of them for their service and wishing them a long and healthy life.
