Town Council has called a meeting to discuss budget goals on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. in Town Hall, 36 Falls Road. The Council’s regular monthly meeting is Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.

Badin Library

Treva Allmon, branch manager of the Badin Library, invites everyone to check out the new indoor look. A colorful wall mural in the children’s reading area and new accessible restroom space bring welcome enhancements to Badin’s Vann Memorial Library, thanks to grants from Friends of the SCPL and the town.

Library patrons and Badin residents can support the library by purchasing a meal at the Rosebriar Restaurant during the Friends of the Stanly County Public Library event “Lasagna for Literacy” on Feb. 2 from 5-8 p.m. Eat-in and take-out will be available, and a portion of the sales will be donated to the SCPL.

The Storytime and Crafts programs are scheduled for Feb. 13 and 27 at 10:30 a.m.

Better Badin

The regular monthly meeting is Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Badin Baptist Church. Members are encouraged to attend, and anyone interested in volunteering for activities and upcoming events is welcome to participate in the planning and discussion.

The January monthly bread giveaway was cancelled because no bread was available. Volunteers are planning the next giveaway at Badin VFD on Feb. 23.

Volunteers are needed for the next Litter Patrol on Feb. 24 at 8:30 a.m. Please meet at the gazebo.

Palestine Community Church

The Palestine Women will meet Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. in the hut, 36414 Palestine Road.

Palestine Pals will enjoy lunch and fellowship at Rosebriar Restaurant on Feb. 13 at 11:30 a.m.

Morrow Mountain State Park

All ages are welcome to join the Junior Ranger Hike on Feb. 3 from 2-3 p.m. on Three Rivers Trail, an easy 1-mile hike. Meet on the lawn in front of the Boathouse.

“Bears for Beginners” is a program planned for Feb. 4 from 1-2 p.m. on the park office lawn. All ages may can learn about bear biology, fun facts and safety tips.

Everyone is invited to enjoy a book about bears at “Reading with a Ranger” on Feb. 17 from 1-2 p.m. at the lodge.

A program about Dr. Kron and the early Piedmont settlers is planned for Feb. 18 from 2-3 p.m. and includes a tour of the Kron house, office and cemetery.

Badin Baptist Church

The Badin Baptist congregation welcomes Rev. Christian Herring as interim pastor and invites the community to visit the church on Falls Road and meet Rev. Herring, his wife Andrea, and their four children. Sunday worship services are at 11 a.m.

Rev. Herring has pastored two Stanly County churches since 2011. Currently the Herrings direct Oaks Classical Christian Academy. Rev. Herring is a graduate of Western Carolina University, Hood Seminary and Liberty University.
