Welcome to February. Wow! February brings us Black History Month, Presidents Day, Valentine’s Day, and Heart Month.

Community News

Please remember that there is a bread giveaway the first and third Friday and Saturday of the month at Resurrection Community Church. This giveaway is sponsored by several churches, organizations and anonymous donors. There is no charge.

Andrea Merriman and Francine Young will be the hosts of the much anticipated “Sisters Arise! Honoring Women and Building Community” event 3-7 p.m. March 10.

The early bird tickets are $20. After March 2, the tickets will be $25. This all happens at Isaiah Westbrook Community Center in Badin.

Church News

“Knowledge Is Power!” That is the title of the Empowement Conference 2024 hosted by Saints Delight, under the leadership of Pastor Charles Barrino. Mark your calendars for Feb. 17 at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served.

The event is free.

Various speakers will cover an array of topics.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Albemarle, will host a Youth Black History Month program on Feb. 18 at 3 p.m.

The program will feature the youth of Saints Delight, Sons of Thunder, of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Ignited, of the Room, the youth dance team of Resurrection Community Church, the youth choir of Spirit and Truth United Church of Worship and the youth choir of Mt. Zion.

East Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church will host a Valentine’s Day Ball at Resurrection Community Church on Feb. 10 at 5 p.m. Tickets are still available. Evangelist Vanessa Chambers will be the emcee.
