Freedom Baptist Church will host Southern Express Bluegrass in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Early Voting

Early voting for the upcoming primary election will begin on Feb. 15 and end on March 2. Hours are 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. This will be at the Joel Huneycutt Room at Locust City Hall. Bring your Photo ID.

Kids Night Out

The next Kids Night Out will be Feb. 23. Registration is required.

City of Locust Parks and Recreation will provide pizza and drinks, an activity and a movie at the Locust Community Building.

Depending on the weather, we may also go to the playground at Jeff Shelton Memorial Park, located beside the Locust Community Building. Please send your child with a water bottle, towel and shoes appropriate for outdoor play.

The cost is $15 for the first child and $10 for each additional, with an additional $5 non-resident fee per child for those living outside of Locust city limits. You must register and pay in advance at locustnc.recdeck.com.

Please note that pickup is promptly at 10 p.m. There will be an additional fee of $5 for every five minutes after 10 p.m.

Sports Registration

Registration is now open for Locust Parks and Recreation for spring soccer, softball and baseball.

With the growth of athletics in Locust, we will monitor the number of registrations during the first month of registration and will set a cap on the total number of participants where we see necessary. Register early to ensure your spot.

Last day of registration is Feb. 20.

West Stanly Dixie Softball

Signups are going on in all West Stanly communities. Don’t wait too late and the teams fill up. Team numbers need to be set so uniforms can be ordered. If teams become full you are on a waiting list until enough for a second team in the area.
Endy Optimist, Locust Parks and Rec, Oakboro Youth and Stanfield Youth all have signup info on Facebook pages.
