Albemarle Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on Friday in the 500 block of Elizabeth Avenue.

Officers were called to the area at approximately 1 a.m. for a well-being check. Upon arrival, officers found a man deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

Albemarle Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are following up on leads in the case. The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time as the Albemarle Police works to notify the family of the deceased.
