RALEIGH – Martin Gaddis of Gastonia took a chance on a $5 scratch-off and won a $250,000 prize.

Gaddis bought his lucky 20X The Cash ticket from Rai Marts on North New Hope Road in Gastonia.

He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Wednesday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $178,751.

The 20X The Cash game debuted in February with 10 $250,000 top prizes. Six $250,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
