Albemarle shooting suspect turns self in

A suspect wanted in what police are calling a domestic related shooting turned himself in Monday afternoon.

Larry Jamaar Pemberton, 40, turned himself in at the Magistrate’s Office around 3:40 p.m. Monday.
Albemarle police officers were called at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday to the 500 block of Arey Avenue for a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found a male who had been shot. The male was taken to the hospital for treatment and is in stable condition, an Albemarle spokesperson said.
After an investigation, Pemberton was identified as a suspect. Police spent Sunday night and much of Monday looking for him.
Pemberton has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm within city limits.
