Pfeiffer athletes set new records at meet

The Pfeiffer University women’s track and field team saw some new school record performances at the VertKlasse Meeting held at Vert Stadium at High Point University.

Leading the way was senior Madison Lower, who broke her own school record in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:44.63, which placed her 10th overall. Less than 30 minutes later, she came back and finished fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:10.25.

Jaela Thomas also had a standout performance, breaking the 100-meter school record with a time of 12.56, placing in 16th in the Division I heavy meet.

Freshman Maddie Hladik also had an outstanding meet as she finished 14th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a school record time of 12:27.98,

She also came to run the 5,000 meters in 19:26.39, just off her personal best.
