LOCUST/STANFIELD NEWS: Family Movie Night to feature South Seas Dancers, ‘Moana’

Locust Presbyterian

Come have lunch at Locust Presbyterian Church on April 17 beginning at 11:30 a.m. They will have a “berry good lunch.” All are invited.
The church is at 607 Main St. W. in Locust.

Family Movie

Come to the first Family Movie Night of 2024 on April 20 in the Locust City Hall Backyard.

The pre-show will begin at 6 p.m. with the South Sea Dancers putting on a fantastic fire and hula dance performance before the movie. The featured movie will be “Moana.”

Bring a blanket or lawn chair and find a spot in the lawn and enjoy a movie under the stars. There is also limited parking in our “drive-in” section at the back of the yard. For drive-in seating, please enter the yard from Kerri Dawn Lane, behind the library.

The backyard will open at 6 p.m., with the movie starting at sunset, around 8 p.m. Parking is available in the Town Center public parking spaces.

There will be food vendors available, so come hungry and help support local businesses.

National Day of Prayer

Our National Day of Prayer committee has been meeting each week busy working and planning this event. This will be a time for all of us to come together and pray for all areas of our government and country from local, county, state and national.

This is the 73rd National Day of Prayer. There will be speakers and music and unity in prayer. Bring a chair or blanket and come to the front area of Locust Government Center on May 2 at noon.

Electronics Recycling

During April the City of Locust will host an electronics recycling event. Through April 30 you can bring your items to the City of Locust Public Works at 221 Kylie Court. Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday. This will be secure data destruction.

Acceptable items are desktop computers, laptops, LCD/LED monitors, scanners and printers, network equipment, routers/ switches, servers, wires/ plugs/cords and circuit boards.

Unacceptable items include hazardous waste, light blubs/fluorescents glass, CRT monitors/tube TVs, oil, gasoline or liquids and leaking batteries.
