Albemarle Police arrest suspect for attempted murder

Albemarle Police Department has a suspect in custody following a shots fired incident in the 800 block of N.C. Highway 24-27, in an area behind Eastgate Shopping Center.
Around 9:55 a.m. Thursday, an Albemarle Police officer reported hearing shots fired. Upon arrival at the scene officers found a male who reported being fired upon from a vehicle.
During an investigation a vehicle description was determined by police and a possible location. Detectives from Albemarle Police, with assistance of Norwood Police, were able to stop the suspect vehicle in Norwood.

Taahir Darnell Brunner, 28, was taken into custody.
Brunner is being charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, discharging a firearm in city limits, assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill and attempted first degree murder.
Preliminary investigation indicates this was not a random act and the parties involved were known to one another, an Albemarle Police spokesperson said.
No injuries were reported in relation to this incident.
