Dombrowski part of River City Players in Oklahoma

A familiar name to Stanly County is acting in Oklahoma this summer.
But it is not the musical “Oklahoma!”
The River City Players at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma is celebrating its 41st season of performances at the NSU Playhouse with a nostalgic lineup.
The 2024 summer series is titled “River City Players: As Seen on TV,” paying tribute to iconic music from classic television shows.
“Audiences are in for a trip down memory lane,” artistic director Dr. Robyn Pursley says.
Stanly County’s Grace Dombrowski is entering her first year with RCP. She is a senior at Western Carolina University majoring in musical theater and minoring in dance and marketing.
The River City Players 2024 season kicked off June 27  and runs until Aug. 3,  showcasing both a rock n’ roll and a country show.
“As Seen on TV: Rock n Roll” is a high-energy revue featuring hits from artists like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, The Carpenters and Queen that were showcased on music television shows like “The Ed Sullivan Show.”
Showtimes are Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 1 p.m., and Saturdays at 1 p.m.
“As Seen on TV: Country” spotlights classic country songs from TV variety shows like “Hee Haw” and “The Grand Ole Opry.” Audiences can expect to hear tunes made famous by Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Freddy Fender, Buck Owens and more. Showtimes for the country performances are Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 4 p.m.
