An Anson County bridge will soon be upgraded, thanks to a $5.4 million contract the N.C. Department of Transportation recently awarded to Anson Contractors, Inc.

The bridge on U.S. 52 over S. Fork Jones Creek will be replaced, starting as soon as this fall. Crews will build a temporary bridge and alignment while building the new structure, so a detour won’t be needed for the project.

The new bridge will be 40 feet wide with 12-foot travel lanes.

Construction should finish in the fall of 2026, with vegetation establishment and landscaping continuing through spring 2027.
