Norwood “Nard” Peeler married Mary Ann Ridenhour on Oct. 13, 1848. They lived in the Misenheimer area and had one child, Green, who was born the following year. It is not clear what happened, but Norwood passed away in 1849 and is buried at Luther’s Lutheran Church in Richfield. Mary Ann and Green lived with her parents for a while, but she later remarried. Green became a local business owner and after marrying Martha Francis Moss in 1876 they had nine children: Clophus, Nola, Charles, Rena, Lela, Barney, Agnes, Coy, and Lona. Martha Peeler passed away in 1904 and Green died in 1927. Both, along with several of their children, are buried at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Misenheimer. Today’s picture, courtesy of Peeler family descendent, Pat (Starnes) Bramlett, shows a Peeler family reunion from 1934. {Lewis Bramlett – Stanly County Historical Society}
