Gray Stone students honored by National Merit Program

Gray Stone Day School seniors Maxwell Foote and Hudson Sharp have been named Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2025 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
“Hudson and Max truly embody the high academic standards we hold at Gray Stone and have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. We know they both have incredibly bright futures ahead and we proudly celebrate this achievement with them,” said Principal Jeff Walter.
Sharp is a member of the National Honor Society where he serves as treasurer, as well as a member of the Quiz Bowl team and Science Olympiad. He is the son of James and Kristen Sharp and resides in Rowan County.
Foote is a member of the National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, Spanish Honor Society (president), Student Advisory Council, Diversity Club and tennis team. He is the son of Chris and Amy Foote and a resident of Rowan County.
