The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary (SAWA) is again sponsoring a New Clothing Drive to ensure there are enough clothes for the children and seniors in the Angel Tree program.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program helps provide Christmas gifts for thousands of children and seniors in the Cabarrus/Stanly county area each year. Community members generously “adopt” children in need by selecting names from the Christmas trees in area malls. Unfortunately, not every child is selected or some supplemental items are needed to ensure that every child has at least one complete outfit and a warm outer garment.
This year, SAWA will have boxes out in area businesses through the Oct. 28 to collect new clothing. The Angels (boys and girls) range from newborns to 12 years old. Silver Wings (seniors) are over 60. New clothing suggestions: coats, hoodies, long sleeve tee shirts, jogging and sleep pants, underwear and shoes in all sizes, infants through adults.
Members of the public can drop off clothing donations at the following businesses in Stanly County who agreed to host a box through Oct. 28:
• Locust: ACE Hardware 217 Town Center Dr.
• Oakboro: Los Jacubes Mexican Restaurant 213 N. Main St.
