Stanly Community College was ranked as the 11th best online community college in the nation in 2019, according to the SR Education Group, a leading education research publisher out of Washington State.

Each community college highlighted on the list received a score based on several factors, including retention rate, number of online associate degrees offered and online enrollment percentage.

SR Education Group also ranked the top community colleges in 38 states, including North Carolina. SCC was the fourth best community college in the state, behind only Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh and Cary, Bladen Community College in Dublin and Haywood Community College in Clyde.

“It is an honor to be recognized among the top community colleges in the nation for providing online courses,” said SCC President Dr. John Enamait. “This ranking reinforces our belief that Stanly Community College students receive an excellent education while being guided by caring faculty and staff. The ranking also confirms that SCC is able to effectively serve students who may not have the resources to attend classes on campus.”

SR Education Group only considered states with at least three regionally accredited schools offering at least one fully online associate degree.

North Carolina was the state with the most community colleges that qualified for the rankings list with 35.
