The Stanly County Historical Society’s second Oral History Interview is now available.

Ralph McSwain, who served for many years as sheriff of Stanly County, was interviewed by retired local attorney, David Grigg. The two prominent citizens of Stanly County have been friends for many years.

McSwain was born in December 1930. He tells Grigg about his family and what it was like growing up during the Great Depression. They also discuss McSwain’s determination to pursue an education.

Grigg encourages McSwain to share information about how he became interested in law enforcement and his career as sheriff of Stanly County.

To view the exchange between the two men go to the Stanly County Historical Society’s website http://historicstanly.org and click on the Oral History flyer to see the YouTube video.
