As Post 2908 is under suspension, Albemarle veterans have 3 other VFWs in Stanly for use
While VFW Post 2908 is under investigation, there are three other VFWs in Stanly County for which Albemarle members can visit.
Locust VFW Post 6365 Commander and VFW District 12 Commander Bobbi Sheets, the district of which Post 2908 is a member, shared that members can visit other posts to participate in activities.
“VFW Posts all have the same programs such as Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen, Teacher of the Year, Public Safety, etc., that they participate in, but each post also has additional activities that they choose to participate in,” Sheets said.
Other posts in Stanly are Norwood VFW Post 6183, Locust VFW Post 6365 and Richfield/New London VFW Post 6369.
Sheets said veterans with questions about Stanly County VFW posts can contact her at dist12@vfwnc.com.
Helen Nelson, state commander for the Department of North Carolina Veterans of Foreign Wars, confirmed earlier this week that the Albemarle post is under suspension and the commander has been removed.
Former commander Paul Hummel said “no comment” when asked if he would like to share a message to veterans or comment on the situation.
