Albemarle Police investigates body found inside former Sagebrush

Albemarle Police Department is investigating a death at a demolition site.

Crews demolishing the former Sagebrush Steakhouse found human remains around 3 p.m. Thursday, according to Police Chief David Dulin.

Dulin said there appears to be no signs of foul play and believes it may be the remains of a homeless person who was staying in the building. The body was heavily decomposed and has been sent for an autopsy to try and determine identity.

Dulin said there are no active missing persons reports.
